What a magical spot!

"We loved staying here, so quiet and peaceful, with the river right out in front. A very romantic and beautiful location."

If you wish to truly escape and hideaway from the world for a while, The Cabin at Kevington is the perfect place. This charming nest is set on one secluded acre on the banks of the beautiful Goulburn River. It’s ideal for a romantic escape. There is no TV, mobile coverage or internet, offering you the rare opportunity for a digital detox, to recharge and breathe in the beauty around you.

With an authentic 70s vibe, the spacious open plan living space features cathedral ceilings, a cosy wood-fired heater and a huge comfy couch. Floor to ceiling windows offer picturesque views across the lawn to the river and a glass door opens onto an expansive deck complete with another comfy couch and arm chairs. It’s a wonderful spot to curl up and enjoy a morning cuppa or an afternoon G&T and soak up the vistas.

Music can be played on the Bose sound system using a device pre-loaded with music such as an iPod or iPhone. There’s also a large trunk full of games and jigsaw puzzles, and plenty of books and magazines.

The kitchen is well stocked with everything you should need including a selection of teas, Vittoria coffee for the plunger or dripolator, sugar and pantry essentials such as oil, vinegars, sauces, salt and pepper, herbs and spices.

The Cabin at Kevington is a 10-minute drive from Jamieson and 55 minutes from the base of Mt Buller. The historic Kevington Hotel, just a five-minute stroll away offers pub meals, pool tables and at times has live entertainment. In Jamieson you will find a well-stocked general store, cafe, pub, brewery, tennis court, laundry facilities, a local history museum and berry farm.

Apart from fishing for trout (you must have a licence) and swimming at your back door, the local area offers horse riding, snow sports at Mt Buller, as well as cross-country skiing, fishing and water sports on nearby Lake Eildon. The boat ramp at Howqua is just 15-minutes’ drive away. The Jamieson Caravan Park rents kayaks and even offers a pick up drop off service. There are also many local wineries in the region and a farmer’s market in Mansfield.

There also is a huge tube and lilos for lazing around in the swimming holes or floating down the river. River rocks can be slippery so it's advisable to wear old trainers or appropriate footwear. Children must be supervised at all times.

Depending on the season you can pick blackberries, plums, apples, oranges, lemons, bay leaves, mint, parsley and rosemary from the garden.

Dogs are welcome, but house rules apply - please discuss at time of booking.

  • This is the kind of place you want to keep secret because it's so good. But thankfully Samantha is willing to share her awesome cabin! We scored the best weather of the spring and spent our time walking in the hills nearby and sipping on cold beer, with our feet in the river. The cabin is super comfortable and clean, it's got everything you want and nothing you don't want - like mobile reception! It's very relaxed and very Australian.

  • Lovely little log cabin in a picturesque location. Lots of additional items such as games to play, hammocks to relax in and fishing rods to fish with. The fire was set and ready to be lit which was amazing when arriving late on a cold evening! Awesome parmie at the local pub too!

  • Had the most wonderful time at this perfect little cabin. The setting is so picturesque! And the cabin has everything you could ever need.

  • What a magical spot! We loved staying here, so quiet and peaceful, with the river right out in front. A very romantic and beautiful location. We roasted potatoes on the fire, played board games and completely relaxed and took in the serenity. We fell in love with the log cabin and the surrounds.
