Originally established in 1855, the hotel retains its historical charm while providing guests with contemporary, architecturally designed facilities that take advantage of the stunning natural surroundings. Accommodation is located both at the Royal Mail Hotel itself and on the Mt Sturgeon property, a nearby working sheep station and the starting point for many walks leading into the captivating beauty of the Grampians National Park. All accommodation options give guests access to Royal Mail Hotel facilities including Royal Mail Hotel walks, an outdoor swimming pool, wine bar, casual dining and fine dining restaurants. Guests are also invited to join a range of immersive experiences including Kitchen Garden visits and Taste and Tour in the acclaimed wine cellar. 

Named Australia‚Äôs best dining room in The Age Good Food Guide, the newly opened Wickens at Royal Mail Hotel restaurant offers unique, nature-based cuisine focusing on the highest quality organic and heirloom produce, and the latest culinary techniques. Five or eight-course menus follow nature's cue to change with the seasons and are inspired by the hotel's natural surrounds. Menus are prepared, based on produce harvested from the extensive kitchen gardens and the hotel's own farms. Parker Street Project is the hotel's casual diner, where a shared plate menu is available for lunch and dinner. A cafe-style breakfast is also served in Parker Street Project daily. 

The award-winning Royal Mail cellar houses an extensive selection of Australian and international wines, including Australia's leading collection of Bordeaux and Burgundy. Sommelier led tours are offered every afternoon except Mondays.

Deluxe Rooms are set within landscaped Australian gardens, offering views of the majestic Grampians National Park. Luxuriously appointed and architecturally designed to capture the beauty of the natural setting, warm tones and timber finishes enhance the contemporary design. Each room features a king bed and spacious bathroom, complete with walk in shower, heated floors and beautiful bathroom amenities.


The cottages, once home to the station's shearers and cooks, are located on a farm property, 3km from the main complex. They have been fully restored and thoughtfully decorated to provide comfort and relaxation in a tranquil rural setting, with stunning views of Mount Sturgeon.The ultimate escape, the cottages do not have televisions or telephones.

Lovebird's View

David and I had a lovely weekend at Royal Mail Hotel. The absolute highlight was the chef's tasting menu with matching wines. Visiting Royal Mail Hotel for a dinner/sleepover really should be on every lovebirds' to-do list.
