Staying here has been a joy

"Peaceful, beautiful surroundings make Truffle Lodge a lovely place to stay in the Derwent Valley."

Step out of your comfort zone without sacrificing the comfort! Like a five-star hotel under canvas, this is the camping you do when you want to pretend to be roughing it.

Situated on the banks of the Derwent River just 39km from Hobart, Truffle Lodge feels like it is a million miles away. Created in one of Australia's first truffieres, Truffle Lodge boasts absolute river frontage and views to the mountains.

Large safari tents are furnished with ceiling to floor drapes, canvas, leather and recycled wooden furniture, deep luxurious beds, large decks looking out over the river, and separate ensuites fitted with handmade wooden bathtubs and rain showers.

Breakfast, dinner and drinks are available in Truffle Lodge's communal areas. Guests are free to choose communal or separate tables, inside, or outside on the riverside deck, or to take their food down to the riverbank. The Lodge also has comfortable fireside lounges, decks and a fire pit, connected to the tented rooms by a boardwalk.

Signature amenities and bespoke details have been chosen with great deliberation to provide every comfort and care. Furniture and furnishings have been selected with an emphasis on luxurious comfort, and an eye for an elegant rustic design concept, reflecting both world-class standards and Truffle Lodge's unique Australian Bush Camp character. Truffle Lodge sits comfortably in its Australian landscape, with a fun overlay of Tales of the Arabian Nights meets Steampunk.

As Truffle Lodge sits on the beautiful Derwent River, it offers many opportunities to keep you active – walking, kayaking, rafting, swimming and fishing. The Derwent Valley is breathtaking, with constantly changing vistas along winding country road and meandering walking tracks. Wilderness areas are close by, as are Russell Falls, Mt Field National Park and the Styx Valley old growth forests which are the home of the tallest hardwoods in the world. It’s also one of Tasmania’s renowned gourmet food bowls, so wineries and farm gate producers feature significantly in most itineraries. Rodney Dunn's Agrarian Kitchen, Sally Wise's Cooking School, Nant Distillery and iconic Stefano Lubiana Winery, and the rising star of Derwent Estate Winery, are all close by, as is MONA, Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary, Richmond and Hobart.
