Heaven on earth

"A beautifully presented property set in an idyllic location. From the moment we walked into this amazing house bathed in sunlight, with stunning views everywhere you looked, we felt so at home."

The Evening Star is in a pretty valley in Wandiligong, on the outskirts of Bright. This beautiful, contemporary home overlooks a picturesque reserve complete with mountains, creeks and river. The open plan design, huge glass doors, windows and wraparound decks all take full advantage of the magnificence of this enviable setting. Earthy colours and materials are used throughout to complement the beauty of nature all around you.

If you don't want to cook on your first night, the Wandi pub, voted best regional pub in Victoria, is just a short walk away. There's also an excellent fresh food market a little further past the pub that sells the best local fresh produce, and amazing cider and apples from their orchard. For your first breakfast, your hosts provide a generous hamper that you can either cook in the house or out on the deck, where you can breathe in the fresh, clean mountain air.

There are lots of wonderful sights and activities for you to explore and enjoy around the house and further afield. However many guests spend most of their time experiencing the restorative powers that being immersed in nature provides.

  • My partner and I loved the telescope; we saw craters on the moon! I could not get enough of that marvellous view, and I loved the walk at the back of the property meandering across small swing bridges overflowing creeks, and seeing the mist flow through the trees as the sun crept up over the hill was so beautiful. The linen sheets were so good; I am now going to buy some for my own home. And I took advantage of the warm throw rugs everywhere while lounging in front of the fire.

  • The property is simply breathtaking. The views are outstanding, and the interior is completely luxurious while maintaining an earthy and homely feeling. The bathroom is exquisite, so spacious and relaxing! My favourite part of the stay was sitting out on the balcony or by the outdoor fire at night time; the stars were magnificent.

  • We Love, Love, Loved it ... the location, the views, the furnishings, every mod con to ensure total comfort, the complimentary wine and breakfast hamper with fresh local produce, the sublime microsilk spa bath and the heavenly pure French flax linen bedding, which was beautiful. There are great walks from just behind the property, and the Wandiligong pub is just up the road and serves wholesome food.

  • A beautifully presented property set in an idyllic location. From the moment we walked into this amazing house bathed in sunlight, with stunning views everywhere you looked, we felt so at home. So tastefully decorated in natural hues with an ambience of peace and tranquillity. Went for long walks around Morses Creek starting at the bottom of the property.
