A masterpiece

"A place for total relaxation - sleeping with the door wide open and waking to the sounds of the birds."

The Odd Frog has five architecturally-designed studios, set amongst ten acres of native bushland. The Odd Frog offers a great escape for those who appreciate privacy, contemporary design, the Australian landscape, all wrapped up into one unique experience.

Nestled amongst native Australian bushland, the residence and studios blend perfectly with their surroundings. All studios are separate buildings at least 50 metres apart, offering you absolute seclusion and tranquillity. Clad in corrugated iron and framed with Jarrah timber, the architectural forms of the buildings are striking.

Architect Andrew McCoubrie has built the studios entirely himself. As designer and builder, it enabled him to provide great attention to detail, resulting in a unique building style. The north facing studios are designed to maximise winter sun and minimise summer sun. They are highly insulated to ensure a comfortable temperature inside year-round.

Once inside, you will be pleasantly surprised by the welcoming interior. The hoop pine plywood walls, outlined with Jarrah strips, create a warm ambiance. Most of the furniture and cabinets have been designed and built by the owners, creating an individual appearance. In winter the studios are enhanced by a cosy wood fire evoking a romantic mood. In summer the private balcony becomes a haven to relax on.

Registered as a 'Land for Wildlife' property, The Odd Frog contains valuable wildlife habitat that is being managed and protected for the vital survival of native plants and animals. The Odd Frog has been constructed and is operated using 'Best Practice' Eco-tourism principles, including an on-site greywater recycling system, solar hot water and 'Green Power'. The Odd Frog is connected to numerous walking and cycling tracks throughout the bushland, which access the Huggins Lookout, Bakers Gully Reservoirs and The Alpine Rail Trail. A 900-metre stroll into town provides easy access to shops, cafes and restaurants.

The Odd Frog is a perfect secluded getaway for anyone looking to relax and chill out in style.
