incredibly peaceful

"I would spend the days hiking and then relax in the armchair in front of the French windows, with a glass of local wine and some Bruny Island Cheese, and take in the views, listen to the waves roll in from the bay and read my book."

Piermont Retreat is a 240-acre property with an elongated stretch along the shoreline. It is bordered on one side by a creek and is surrounded by stunning natural beauty. A natural mould in the landscape lent itself to the construction of an amphitheatre that is sometimes used for entertainment, but otherwise serves as a beautiful landmark. The cottages are scattered around the amphitheatre and built from natural materials, with solid stone walls, timber floors, sheep wool insulation and slate roofing.

The accommodation at Piermont Retreat could be described as "ecologically sustainable luxury". This is evident in the lack of superfluous decorations and glitzy polishes. Instead, the lovingly finished details, handcrafted from natural materials, bring about nostalgic memories of good old times, long gone by.

Piermont's seaside restaurant has won a suite of awards. Superbly positioned overlooking Great Oyster Bay and central to all accommodation at Piermont, the restaurant is just a pleasant stroll from your cottage. The menu features a strong emphasis on the highest quality Tasmanian ingredients, and the wine list features a hand-picked selection of Tasmania’s finest wines.

Piermont Retreat is a place to escape from crammed footpaths, stuffy elevators, congested traffic, lifeless concrete and the noise of city life. This is a place where you can simply be surrounded by natural beauty. Piermont Retreat is also a short drive from Tasmania's beautiful Freycinet National Park. The stunning Peninsula encompasses some of Tasmania's best bushwalking - including the world famous Wineglass Bay. Maria Island National Park is one of many other attractions close to Piermont Retreat.

  • Stayed two nights at this great little escape. The cottage was superb, comfortable and peaceful. Even better was the restaurant. If you stay there don't miss the restaurant. One of the most enjoyable dinners we have had for a long, long time.

  • What a beautiful and tranquil place by the sea. We walked into our three-bedroom cottage and just said "wow". It was so pretty with stone and timber and classic but quaint decor. It's on the water with panoramic views of the bay and about three minutes from town. It is very quiet and peaceful and eco friendly. A real retreat.

  • The views were spectacular. Take note that the more you pay the fewer cottages you will have in front of yours and the more impressive your view will be. The cottages themselves are outstanding and fully equipped with everything you'll need. The wood burning fireplace was probably my favourite thing in the cottage. Or the spa in the corner of the bedroom. Can't recommend highly enough!

  • It was truly amazing, the place is incredibly peaceful, with stunning views across the bay to Freycinet National Park. I would spend the days hiking around the National Park and then relax in the armchair in front of the French windows, with a glass of local wine and some Bruny Island Cheese, and take in the views, listen to the waves roll in from the bay and read my book. I felt so rested after just two nights here.
